In honor of Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland’s birthdays this month I decided to do some research on old hollywood actresses beauty regimes. I was appalled by some of the choices these ladies made just to appear camera ready. Marilyn used to wear Vaseline under her makeup to give her a dewy youthful look, while Audrey Hepburn used a pin to separate her each of her lashes to make them look longer. More extremists like Marlene Dietrich removed her molar teeth just so her cheekbones would be more pronounce and Elizabeth Taylor used to shave her face to get off all the excess “fur” the cameras would pick up. At first I was shocked to read about theses starlets but then I took a look at myself and some of the crazy things I have done in the name of beauty or what I thought was beauty. Here’s a little list of my insane methods…
*I used to push the tip of my nose upward and hold it for a minute, thinking it would eventually give me a cute button nose. (I think I stopped when I tried to do a backflip and landed on my nose, giving me a rude everlasting bump)
*I once SUPER-GLUED a rhinestone to the middle of my forehead in efforts to have the 90’s Gwen Stefani bindi look. (Luckey enough I was able to remove it without any damage)
*In order to have dainty feet I used to wear shoes that were too small so my feet wouldn’t grow. (I must have thought that Chinese foot binding was a good idea…nope)
*Someone once told me when I was younger that if you ate coleslaw it helped your boobs to grow, so I ate a lot of it. (I think this one might have actually worked…too much)
*Now this last one doesn’t have me proud but when I was a teen I definitely used to mix Peroxide and “Sun-In” to get my locks looking lighter. (I later dyed my hair pink to cover the orange hue. oops!)
So now that I dished some of my secrets, If anyone is reading this I’d love to hear your beauty blunders.
